Raining
Rain in the desert is a welcomed event. Today, I awoke to the sounds of drizzling rain. No thundering, no lightning, and no wind. Just drizzling rain coming straight down. Everything looks so clean and when the sun appears there are diamonds on the leaves of the trees & bushes that still have them. I put out some bird seed and was delighted to see the mother cardinal arrive. The year-round hummingbird is always here.
There were quail on top of the fence earlier but I wasn't fast enough to get the camera.
What have you seen in your back yard today?
I have been sick, but have heard the birds singing like crazy. They loved the rain too.
ReplyDeletenow that is a nice kind of rain...and your visitors are lovely...I love cardinals...
ReplyDeleteGlad you're getting needed rain! I've been watching some squirrels in my back yard. One will dig up a walnut and go and rebury it in another spot! The birds are busy at the finch feeder. I even see some sparrows sitting there eating the thistle seed. Haven't seen many cardinals yet, but I will once I start putting out the cracked corn.
ReplyDeleteSweet little birds!
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of quail in our yard...they are tearing up the small irrigation lines to the plants in order to get a drink!
Not too many roadrunners yet but once I start to feed them their favorite meals (small bits of raw beef heart) they'll be back to beg on a daily basis.....
We just had a big storm, and lots of debris needs to be cleared from the driveway, the deck,.
ReplyDeleteI just love those birds feeding away. Enjoy the rain.
Love the rain and we get so little of it. Thanks so much for stopping by and your gracious comments about our tree. Hope you are enjoying the Holiday season. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Joani! I didn't know there were Red Cardinals in this area. How exciting!
