I WON

For the past five years I have attended the Yavapai Cattle Growers Association's annual Calf Sale and Barbecue at Peeples Valley, Arizona.  And, every year I buy tickets for the quilt raffle.  And, this year, I WON

The quilt...which is quite heavy...is made up of brands from the ranches in the county.  The owner of the brand is also named and from where they hail.  The size of this quilt happens to be a queen size...the exact size of my bed.  I will cherish this quilt.

This is a view of one of the squares with their brand & their name.

  2. All right! Many years ago when my grandmama put together the annual Old South Day Quilt that ladies all over the community contributed squares to I always hoped that one day I would win one of them...sadly I never did!

  3. Queenie....I am so sorry. They used to contribute the squares to this quilt but they finally stopped that. I would really like to find a quilt with my grandfather's brand on it but that was a long time ago. I'll cherish this one.

  4. She always made the logo square too.....and I helped her sell tickets the years we could go down and help with Old South Day....she turned over the duties several years ago and even with all the stress off her shoulders to get it done it broke her heart that last time. They still have the OSD it's been over thirty years now since the first one and boy is it as ever! Haven't been since 94....Granddaddy passed in 98 and Grandmama sold the homeplace and moved to Moultrie.
