Tears

I was away for a few days and upon returning I found that someone had broken into my home and had taken my television and both of my laptops.  Unfortunately, the one laptop had most of my photos and so I will have to get busy and take some more while things are still blooming in my part of the world.  They also took a couple of guns and ransacked one bedroom pretty much but they did not get 3 pistols hidden in the kitchen and money.  And, they didn't destroy the house such as knocking holes in the walls or peeing somewhere in appropriate.  One becomes very humbled about thinking locks will save their belongings.  And, I do have to be thankful for the small things.  Like, I wasn't here so they'd be looking down on a double barreled shot gun and me shooting first and asking questions later.   I will not give up my guns or property without a fight no matter who it is.

Stay safe in your home.

  1. Your safe, that is a HUGE important detail, and you've still got the pistols if they come back! Azzholes.

  2. Oh my goodness, Joani! I feel so badly for you. Do you have an alarm system that failed? I ask only because we have a system, but have wondered if having that in place gives us a false sense of security. I'm so glad you were not there and might have risked bodily harm trying to protect yourself and your property. I think the burglar should probably be grateful that you were not home, too! Sure hope they catch the culprit!

  6. Joani - i know how you feel. We had a break-in at our little farmhouse while we were gone. Made me sick literally. I hate that feeling. They took a bunch of our things like that - luckily they didn't take any guns. The most important thing that was missing was my mother's and grandmother's china. Other things can be replaced but those were sentimental items to me. I don't know why people have to be so mean.... I'm glad you were not home tho, and that you still have your pistols. Please take care.

  7. Joani, I raised my children as a single parent. One evening when everyone was sleeping, our home was broken into with a crow bar. It was so unsettling, I ended up moving to the country. The feeling is indescribable, isn't it? I just didn't feel safe there any longer. Glad it turned out ok for you.
