Wednesday is usually a day that I do not go into the office. Wednesday is also senior discount day at the nursery. And, since I won't be able to go next Wednesday because I'm having lunch with a classmate/friend from Las Vegas at White Chocolate, I thought I'd better get to the nursery today. This is what I found.
| This is an Early Girl. I'm trying it this year. |
| These are cherry tomatoes. |
Then, Sheri showed me these. They are blue/purple Verbena. I could not resist as I think the color is just beautiful.

While I was out in the yard, I noticed that the African Daisies were blooming and if the storm comes, there won't be much of them left.
These always bring such a cheerfulness when they are looked at. They come back every year without seeding.
I didn't plant the tomatoes because I forgot to stop by the grocery store and get some bananas to put in the bottom before I plant the tomatoes. Will do that tomorrow if it doesn't rain too heavy.

Love your taste in flowers. It has not gotten too springy here yet so I have not been plant shopping. As to my blog, there are all kind of creatures in that area. In fact, at midnight, they will take you on an alligator hunt. That is the time they come up out of the water. Lots of them in the lake.
ReplyDeleteOutside things blooming! Wow! I'm still watching snow melt into mud with ice below--very dangerous. I love verbena--it's so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWe planted those early girls last year...they grew like crazy. I'm partial to the big boys though and I think this year we will only have those. Question for ya, why bananas? I'd never heard of doing that. Thanks in advance for any tips :o)
ReplyDeleteOh so tempting but I am determined to not plant till I know the frost is past. However, I might be tempted to buy though.

Hi Joani, I can't put tomatoes out until May 15 or so. I have tried Early Girl and they are tasty and reliable, at least here, they work well here since we have a short growing season. I just started seeds for tomatoes in my greenhouse yesterday. We are getting our predicted snow, already a foot and more is coming down.
ReplyDeletePretty display of African Daisy's. Oh and that verbena is so royal looking. What's this about the banana and th tomato plant. Tell us more. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! We have several more weeks of wintry weather, so it's fun to look at your pictures!
ReplyDeleteI'm here from Fishtail Cottage's party.
Have a great day.

A couple have commented about the bananas. Some time back an old farmer told me to put bananas in the bottom of the hole when I plant my tomatoes. I've been doing that ever since and the tomatoes have done very very well. I also plant the tomato where only the last leaf is showing on top of the ground....the other leaves under the ground will also turn into roots. I'm no expert but this is what I've been doing for a number of years. And, U all know not to put a tomato plant where it was last year unless you have changed out the dirt. Happy planting.
ReplyDeleteI love your tomato selections, why put the banana's in the bottom? Just put some good compost in and that will do the trick. I'm jealous that you have tomatoes so early.. I'm looking at my snow covered garden and then drooling over your beautiful pictures. Don't forget to email so I can send out your gift! :)
