The weather in Arizona has been beautiful.  After doing some watering I decided to put some bird seed out and as I was resting I heard this pair of Cardinals arrive in the area.   They do have a different chirp from the other birds.

They are such a striking red color and I luv to watch them.

What kind of birds are in your area?

  1. What beautiful photos!! :) We have lots of Cardinals in our area of East Texas. We also seem to have a lot of migrating birds as well. A couple of years ago I had some that kept flying around and hitting my windows. I finally called the extension office and they referred me to a University to find out what they were. LOL now I can't even remember!! I just know they had bright yellow on them!! I need to go put out some bird seed!! Have a lovely evening!!

  2. What a beautiful bird. They sure do not fly to Europe.
Are those Pioneer Woman's Redheads on your banner. Good choice for a picture I like it.

  3. Marianne....Yes, it is. I luv that picture. Also, the other one of the wild horses. If I could take a picture like that I'd be in heaven. Thanks for stopping by.

  4. Great pix! Here in New England we have tons of birds. Every now and then I do catch a glimpse of a cardinal or two. Right now there's more blue jays, chick a dees and drackles. The rest have more or less left for the winter or hidden well into the woods. I wish I could've gotten a picture of the seagulls at the beach last year when I was feeding them in mid air. I'd toss bread up into the sky above me and sure enough one or another would fly by just in time to swipe it. Of course, I hadn't noticed the sign about not feeding the birds! lol Thankfully, I don't think anyone else did either! :o)

  5. Your photos are lovely! I've never gotten such a good bird picture before! I don't think any birds are left here. They all blew away in the blizzard we had yesterday.

  6. So, so beautiful! We're getting many jays and starlings this time of the year. Robins are about to visit in a few weeks, the minute the buds are out and the sun begins to warm the earth.
Thanks for your visit at sixtyfivewhatnow.

  7. Love your pictures Joani! The cardinals are beauties. We have such different birds here and I am trying to get some good photos like yours. Have managed a few but not published anywhere yet.
So far I have honeyeaters, myner birds (which are real pests), owls, kookaburras, lorikeets, galahs, wattlebirds, cockatoos and probably others I have forgotten. The birds are one of the things I love about my new house.
Hmm, inspiring me once again, gotta start posting my pics somewhere!
PS: I really want to get a better camera for the zooming

  8. Fantastic pictures and great writing about the wildbirds...so many colourful ones as how do you manage to zoom in to get a very good pic!

Our birds are hiding from the cold miserable weather...they will be out soon chirping away and staring at me on the deck for snacks!

Keep up the great work and will be back for more of your stories and pics!

  9. Hi! Terrific photos! I am a bird lover/watcher from way back. We have had a lot of different varieties at our feeders this winter. I just posted a collage of some of them. The cardinals are one of my favorites. I just love the color against the snow we've had so much of this winter in Missouri. I came over from Verde Farm and I'll be back to read more. Nice to meet you!
